Permanent Impermanence
Since its inception, this body work has undergone numerous titles. It began cleverly as “Flour Arrangements". But I soon realized that the ambiguity and fragility of these images required a deeper meaning. The material I chose to photograph, baking flour, became a universal symbol for photographic images. With most of photography, after the shutter is tripped, the subject matter continues to change or to disappear. The only permanence that remains is that of the photographic image itself.
